Stepping into Nature
Stepping into Nature is hosted by Dorset AONB and provides guided activities for Dorset’s older generation, including people living with dementia and related illnesses and their carers, to access and enjoy the beautiful landscapes, wildlife and culture of Dorset.
Stepping into Nature got in touch with Lost Words Dorset and suggested that The Lost Words would be enjoyed by those who come along to the Memory Cafes in Dorset organised by the Alzheimer's Society. The initiative was able to supply eight Memory Cafes in Dorset with a total of twenty four books (plus copies of the Explorers' Guide). Stepping into Nature also commissioned Martin Maudsley, the storyteller, to introduce the books to six of the Memory Cafes and to share many of his Lost Stories along the way.
Stepping into Nature has also funded the development of the Lost Words Trail in Thorncombe Wood near Dorchester, including four artist-led walks along the Trail for families in spring 2019 (see the Events pages).
